48 Hours of Hell Returns!

48 Hours of Hell is a horror-themed video race…. and maybe the only one in the WORLD! We start with your average 48 hour video race, and then we add crazy amounts of blood, violence, gore, fantasy, and over-the-top horror. The race begins October 21st. Don’t be scared…..

We’ve just launched the new complete with a new video gallerynew team registration process, and more.

New in 2011

  • The race begins online! – This years’ elements will be announced online at 10PM on Oct 21st. Only registered teams will have viewing access. This means no more wasting time driving!
  • Multiple drop-off locations – Plano, Dallas, Denton, Arlington, and Fort Worth. Each location will be open from 8PM-10PM on Oct 23rd.
  • Submit your videos online! – Registered teams can now submit their final video online.

How It Works
Register your team at; fees do apply. At 10PM on October 21st, we will publish this year’s elements on our web site. The elements consist of a theme, a location, a prop, and a line of dialogue. These are always horror related. The elements for the past few years are posted here.

You must then create a 4-8 minute video using these four elements. Your video must be turned in by 10PM on October 23rd. The videos will be screened on October 25th at 7:30PM at the Silver Cinemas in Denton. The top two videos will receive a cash prize!

The Video Association of Dallas is dedicated to promoting an understanding of video as a creative medium and cultural force in our society, and to supporting and advancing the work of Texas artists working in video and the electronic arts. Through its programs and information services, the Video Association intends to educate and inform artists, students, educators, critics, video and film producers and an interested public so they may better understand, appreciate and evaluate the creative possibilities of the video medium. It will also provide a forum for the work of regional video artists, in order to stimulate excellence in their work and provide the opportunity for dialogue and critical discussion.
