Message from the Texas Commission on the Arts

As already you know, our agency’s grants budget was reduced by over 50 percent this past legislative session.  The one source of new funds we can generate to increase our grants budget over the course of the next two years is revenue from our State of the Arts license plate.  Our agency is able to use the funds generated by sales and renewals on these specialty license plates immediately.  For each license plate sold, TCA receives $22. These sales comprise an important part of our grants budget, up to a quarter million dollars a year.   We have no budget to market these plates for the upcoming biennium, so we rely upon you, our partners, to place ads in your programs and publications to help promote these sales.  Luckily, we have been working on developing a new advertisement which is ready now for your use.  You can access these ads at the following link

Through its programs and information services, the Video Association intends to educate and inform artists, students, educators, critics, video and film producers and an interested public so they may better understand, appreciate and evaluate the creative possibilities of the video medium. It will also provide a forum for the work of regional video artists, in order to stimulate excellence in their work and provide the opportunity for dialogue and critical discussion.
