Kerry Laitala will be attending our festival for a Cinegrams Workshop.

Experimental filmmaker Kerry Laitala will facilitate a workshop on cinegrams on Saturday, Sept 24 at 10 a.m. at Owen Fine Arts Center at SMU  on the 2nd Floor, room, 2625, 6101 Bishop Blvd. Admission is a $10 suggested donation. High school students are free. Participants need to bring the following with them: a flashlight, and rubber dishwashing gloves. You can learn more about Laitala workshops at her website. SF Weekly called Laitala the “Best Filmmaker without a Pixar contract (yet).” Her work is colorful and innovative, showcasing some of the most fascinating creativity that can be found in the world of film and video.

During the festival there is a half hour block dedicated to Ms Laitala’s work, Saturday, Sept 24th at 7:45 p.m. at the Angelika.

The Video Association of Dallas is dedicated to promoting an understanding of video as a creative medium and cultural force in our society, and to supporting and advancing the work of Texas artists working in video and the electronic arts. Through its programs and information services, the Video Association intends to educate and inform artists, students, educators, critics, video and film producers and an interested public so they may better understand, appreciate and evaluate the creative possibilities of the video medium. It will also provide a forum for the work of regional video artists, in order to stimulate excellence in their work and provide the opportunity for dialogue and critical discussion.
