One of our selections from last year, “Freedom Riders” is nominated for three Emmys this year!

“Freedom Riders,” one of our full-length documentary selections from last year is nominated for an Emmy this year. After appearing on PBS this past year, Stanley Nelson’s gripping documentary about civil rights activists in 1961 who fought against a racist society by riding on trains and buses in small groups demanding equal access on public transportation and in public locales such as restaurants and waiting rooms has received an Emmy nomination for Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking, Writing, and Editing. We had the honor of screening the film last year, accompanied by a Q&A with producer Laurens Grant. You can see a trailer for the feature below. You can also view the film online here.
